The Mercury Perseus 765 kV Transmission Line project began in 2007, with Eskom PDP serving as the client, Viscas Corporation serving as the principal contractor, and Mkhulu Electro Distribution CC serving as the subcontractor. The project’s scope included the installation of the 340, 703B, and 701 type series, as well as the stringing of roughly 160 kilometers of single circuit (six Tern lines).
The installation of transmission towers, the placement of foundations, and the stringing of electrical wires were all part of the project. The 340, 703B, and 701 type series were carefully chosen to meet the project’s specific requirements.
The construction of a tower foundation was required for the installation of the transmission towers. This was done to verify that the towers could withstand the weight of the electricity wires and any other equipment attached to them. The Challenge :
