The Hydra Gamma 1 and 2 765 kV transmission line project was completed in 2009–2010 and commissioned by Eskom, with Viscas Corporation serving as the principal contractor and Mkhulu Electro Distribution Projects cc serving as the subcontractor. The installation of 275 towers, specifically the 703B and 701 type series, as well as the stringing of roughly 130 kilometers of Single Circuit-Six Tern line, were part of the project.

Cranes and specialized equipment were used to lift and put the towers in their designated locations throughout the tower installation operation. The crew was responsible for ensuring that the foundations for each tower were stable and met the necessary specifications. To ensure that the transmission line was correctly strung between the towers, specialist apparatus and equipment were used.

Because of the close proximity to heritage sites, the project team was required to collaborate closely with relevant authorities to ensure that all legislation and standards were satisfied. The team also had to examine environmental factors and take actions to reduce any negative environmental impact.
