Mkhulu GBV CSI Event
Mkhulu EDP, at Kusile Lulamisa 400kV Transmission Line construction project celebrated Woman’s Month with Mali Martin Centre Polokegong (Bronkospruit) that houses survivors of Gender Based Violence, Human Trafficking and the Homeless on the 29th August 2023.
As part of Celebrating Women, Mkhulu chose Gender Based Violence and Human Trafficking as the themes to shed light on seeing that national statistics indicated that there is a steady rise in such crimes.
The survivors comprised of approximately 60 women, children and men from ages 2 years to above 50 years old. The total amount spent on this commemoration and celebration was approximately R200 000.
On this day the following items were handed over to the Centre:
- Beds, Linen, Bed covers
- Groceries, Toiletries, Clothing,
- Stoves, Kettles, Refrigerators, Freezers, TVs,
- Pots, Cups, Crockery, Cutlery,
- Food and Drinks
The day was also punctuated by speeches and messages from former beneficiaries of the Centre that have now integrated back into the society represented by Ms E. Zwane, Regional Head of Government Mr Jabulani Swartland Mabona, Chief Mtsweni (Region 5, 6 and 7) and Mkhulu EDP represented by one of its Directors, Ms Zola Hlatshwayo; all giving messages of support and encouragement to the survivors, acknowledging the strength of character it requires to still be standing after all they have gone through and acknowledging the sacrifice and dedication of those that work at the Centre.
